Making patient care and innovation a top priority.

The QEII Foundation conducts a number of grant programs that are available to QEII staff and physicians to further their ability to provide enhanced patient care. Your donations can contribute to funding these grants and helping the QEII provide the highest level of quality care. The following is a list of grants administered by the QEII Foundation:

Maritime Heart Centre Innovation Fund

The Maritime Heart Centre Innovation Fund will fuel our team of Heart Health physicians and researchers, allowing them to continue to advance treatment and save lives through world-leading research and innovation.

By investing in heart health excellence today, you will enable the QEII to continue to deliver the gold standard in cardiac and vascular care. At the heart of it all, protecting one of the most important organs in our bodies.

Rehabilitation Program Grants

Each year, the QEII Foundation invites applications for grants from the Rehabilitation Program Grants. Funds generated by these grants are available annually for special project funding.

Applications are invited from individuals working in the rehabilitation program at the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Centre. Grants will be considered for initiatives that enhance awareness and understanding, and promote excellence in rehabilitation.

Comfort & Care Grant Program

The Comfort & Care Grant program was established to provide funds to enhance care for QEII patients and their families. Comfort & Care Grants are intended for projects that typically would not receive funding from the health centre's capital or operating budgets. Grants are awarded up to $5,000. All employees and physicians at the QEII Health Sciences Centre are invited to apply for funds to support their patients or families.

Translating Research Into Care (TRIC) grants

Every day our community is affected by challenging health situations. This is one reason why Atlantic Canadians are fortunate to have exceptional medical researchers at the QEII Health Sciences Centre. But these research experts can't do it alone.

In collaboration with research at the QEII, we have established the QEII Foundation Translating Research Into Care (TRIC) grants. These research grants are awarded to successful teams of researchers and administrators who work together to fuel direct and positive changes for health care, including better patient outcomes, reduced wait times and improved access to care.

For more information about TRIC grants, visit our research page or contact Julie MacKean at

The QEII Foundation inspires generosity to advance health care at the QEII Health Sciences Centre. With financial support from all levels of the community, the Foundation helps fund new technologies, research, innovation and education that contribute to life-changing moments experienced every day by patients and their loved ones.
